ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Amity Word

Artistic Director/Founder

Amity Word has studied several forms of dance such as jazz, modern, lyrical, African, hip hop and salsa.  She decided at an early age that the arts would be her profession.  She is a certified Total Body Flexibility Specialist and Mind Body Fitness Specialist with over 22 years dance experience.  Amity graduated from the State University of West Georgia with a B.A. in Mass Communication.  She was in the hit dance movie "Stomp The Yard."  She has taught extensively in the community for the Coweta County School System, West Central Tech students, Seniors Centers,  Boys n Girls Clubs, the Angels' House, and Atlanta Public Schools.   Amity has worked extensively as a dancer and choreographer, performing locally and nationally.  Her unique style of dance is rich with diversity.  Her dances are choreographed  with a mixture of Latin, African, and reggae flavor.  All of these art forms are inspired from high above, tools for reaching the impossible,” says Amity Word.  She has invented the styles World Fusion, Urban Fusion, and Abstraction which is a mixture of dances from many cultural forms.     Ms. Word has developed a strong team to make One Word Productions, Inc. a successful venture.

Amity started the One Word Productions because she saw a void in the quality of arts education and physical fitness available to children.  Amongst her many developments is Burn While You Learn, is a childhood obesity prevention program.   “Our health care costs have grown along with our waist lines,” says Amity Word.  “The obesity epidemic is a big contributor to the skyrocketing health care costs in the United States.  We use the arts and dance fitness as a way of reversing the childhood obesity epidemic is a critical ingredient for delivering a healthier population and making health reform work.  If we can prevent the current generation of young people from developing the serious and costly chronic conditions related to obesity, we can not only improve health and quality of life, but we can also save billions of dollars and make our health care systems more efficient and sustainable.”

Amity is very passionate about increasing arts and fitness education for the youth and providing affordable services for the underpriviledged.  She believes strongly in providing a place where people can escape from the everyday cares of life, meet friends, and become more physically active.  Quality instruction with qualified instructors is necessary to enhance the total quality of community oriented service offerings to children, youth, and adults.    One Word Productions, Inc. is a community solution that changes lives for the better.
