The purpose of our outreach programs are to provide long-term benefits to schools and communities by providing arts and health related educational services. We cultivate partnerships that fosters educational arts opportunities for students, recognize and encourage excellence in the arts and academics. Also, to assist youth in obtaining quality dance training. We believe that a child’s academic abilities increases with the arts and fitness.
1. BURN WHILE YOU LEARN PROGRAM: Obesity Prevention program that involves dance fitness which can last for as long as the school or organization allows and usually occurs during an after school program, workshop, camp, etc. Burn is a dance fitness program that seeks to improve and coordinate the way we learn about physical education and the issues concerning the growing rate of obesity in children. Our goal is to expose children and teens to dance education as a basic and integral component of education in all academic public, private, and preschool Institutions. We educate and train individuals to learn quality style and technique while improving their physical fitness in a fun and interactive environment. Burn While You Learn, is a successful method of motivating inactive children and teens to stay in shape while having fun. One Word Productions’ staff goes out to the schools once or twice a year during their PE time and do a 30 minute “Dance-A-Thon” dance exercise routine per PE class. It’s an assembly. Kids are burning fat while learning to dance in a fun environment. May involve competitive dance teams amongst Boys n Girls Clubs to earn trophies for their club. Involves judges from dance organizations. Fighting Obesity for a Healthy Future
2. ADOPT-A-DANCER: The Adopt-A-Dancer program is a performing arts program funded by businesses, community leaders, grants, etc. Our mission is to give special needs children, underprivileged children, and those children who have demonstrated academic excellence the opportunity of a lifetime to explore the world of cultural arts. This program increases arts awareness, develops physical fitness, social skills, confidence, self-esteem, and leadership. Students will participate in dance lessons held at Dance Depot 5. One Word Productions offers quality dance training and a wide spectrum of cultural dance styles. Students will be awarded at the end of the year May Recital. We also provide classes in art and drama for children and young adults with special needs. We believe in helping children with disabilities be the best they can be. Our Vision - To become nationwide with our classes.
3. ARTS AFTER SCHOOL: Afterschool Programs Benefit Youth, Families, & Communities. We have found that learning how to dance develops social skills, enhances creativity, and adds confidence to growing individuals. The program begins the first day of school from 2:30pm - 6:00pm Monday-Thursday. Our trained, caring staff implements proven youth development strategies and creates a stable, supportive environment for children and teens ages 5 to 18. Teens who do not participate in afterschool programs are nearly three times more likely to skip classes than teens who do participate. They are also three times more likely to use drugs, drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes and engage in sexual activity. Our specially designed program concentrates on developing young minds, self-esteem, good health, and quality dance technique among our participants. We offer dances from tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and more. We begin with introduction, stretching, and warm-up exercises.
4. SCHOLARSHIPS: The Dance Arts Scholarship brings together artistic professionals, academic educators, and corporate leaders who believe arts education is an investment central to the development, maintenance, and growth of our most important asset, our youth. This scholarship awards 10 students each semester (2 students from each grade level from 1st to 5th grade). Students may submit applications by deadline every time report cards are issued. The following dance scholarship is rewarded to both new and returning dance students. Students are nominated the directors of One Word Productions Dance Studio. Announced at the end of year recital, each scholarship winner receives an award.
5. FIELD TRIPS: This is a field trip to our studio for preschoolers and special needs children. It is an exciting way to get them out of the classroom. Our program is great for stimulating young minds, increasing body coordination, and rhythm. It’s a great way to burn energy and get the heart pumping in a fun environment.
6. FAMILY FUN DANCE DAYS: This event is held at the dance studio during a special event. Family and friends can come watch or try a 30-45 minute Free dance lesson, meet and greet Instructors, have fun, and dance themselves silly!
7. SUMMER CAMPS: Youth ages 3 to 18 can participate in our performing arts camps: Art, Drama, Dance. Camps range from 1 to 2 weeks. All 2 week camps end with a performance on the last day. At Dance Camp, students will take 3 of the following dances a day: ballet, tap, hip-hop, jazz, and creative movement. Our Hip-hop Camp focuses only on hip-hop technique and training. Our Arts Camp include visual arts; drawing, and painting. This camp opens up a world of creativity. The children’s work will be displayed at an art show at the end of camp. We will work with watercolors, canvas, clay pieces, etc. Drama/Acting Camp: Drama Camp teaches your child basic improv skills, communication skills, which builds confidence and ignites creativity, artistry and teamwork in an atmosphere of mutual encouragement and respect. Students help create stories, develop characters, learn theatre games in playful enviroment. All 2 week summer camps conclude with performances.
8. WORKSHOPS: Periodically we invite master choreographers to teach groups of classes in a specialized workshop.
