World Fusion Fitness

A sizzling fiesta!  This is a high impact cardio dance exercise that challenges the mind and the body. Combines African and Latin movements with a Reggae twist!   It tones and strengthens the body to exciting Afro Latin rhythms and percussive drum music from around the world!  We encourage students to be free using improvisational skills and to feel the rhythm of the music.  Be prepared to laugh, sweat, and have fun!  An invention from One Word Productions not taught anywhere else! 

Urban Fusion Fitness

 

Time to sweat street style!  High impact aerobic hip-hop grooves.  Tones and strengthens the body to a rhythmic street beat!  This fun filled class makes you feel as though you were dancing in a music video.  An invention from One Word Productions not taught anywhere else.  Involves hip hop technique and stretching coordination exercises.  Easy to do –anyone can do it! 

Abstraction Fitness

             Want a dancers’ body?  or Lean abs?                                                                                Abstraction is the way.  Soothe your soul in this restorative class.  Melt away your stress as you gain flexibility, strength, and balance.  This ambient and versatile form of dance is designed to develop the core of the body increasing muscle strenght in your back and abs.  It combines both the elements of Yoga breathing technique and Modern Jazz for increased heart rate.  Guaranteed to leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed.  An invention from One Word Productions not taught anywhere else!

TWIST N SHOUT Seniors Fitness

 

 

Hip hop

Get outta the house!  Now Seniors can get up and dance to popular music.  This class is designed for both men and women seniors.   Half  of this class concentrates on balance, coordination which includes some non-strenuous dance exercises.  The other half of class is cardiac oriented with more intensive movements, low impact dance aerobics.  Lasts about 45 min.  Dance, make friends, and have fun!  

Straight from the streets of Atlanta.  Experience cutting edge choreography to rival the latest greatest moves.  You can't do this and not be cool. And guess what - you can do this! It's a beginner/intermediate level class - but you won't know that by watching it. When it comes to making students dance like pros, our Instructors are excellent.  They have an amazing talent for teaching choreography in such a way that everyone gets it. There is no other hip hop class like this in town. Try it and see for yourself!

*Salsa I

Welcome to the world of Salsa!  This class covers all the basics.  You’ll learn the fundamental rules and techniques.  Basics:  Right turn, left turn, lead and follow rules, proper body positioning, proper hand positioning, and basic footwork.  You’ll learn history, timing, and counts.  Moves will be broken  down slowly.  No partner necessary.  Dancing with several different partners can really help your dancing. Ladies-- you will be AMAZED at how different the lead can be with different people!

*Salsa II

You’re on your way to becoming a great Salsa dancer.  Learn proper technique and counts to successful cross-body’s and how to link them to newly learned combinations.  Specific techniques in cross-body footwork “Partner Tension”- different cross-body hand positioning.  Giving and receiving turns, and introduction to spinning technique.  More combinations with footwork.  No partner necessary.

*Salsa III

Must have completed the Intermediate courses.  You learn current up-to-date social dancing combinations.  Find out what all the hype is about with the night-life Salsa dance scene.  Show off your skills at our monthly practice parties!!  No partner necessary.  

*Ballroom I

Ballroom is the most useful for social dancing.  You can do it to the widest variety of music, such as Big Band, Latin, Rock & Roll, Neo-swing, and Country, and Soul.  You will learn the basics to four traditional ballroom dances each session.  We offer Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing, Tango, & Cha Cha.  Some Chicago 2 Steppin Workshops too.  No prior ballroom experience required.

*Ballroom II

This class is for those who have already taken both beginner International classes and or/received permission from the instructor.  It will expand on the dances taught in the Beginner class.

*Ballroom III

Expands on the dances taught in the Intermediate class.  You should have taken both Ballroom I & II and now know enough to go out social dancing with ease. 

 

Lyrical Praise

This class is taught straight from the heart.  Also, a method of praise dance.  We occasionally use terms from ballet and jazz.  Lyrical dance is very expressive, spiritual, and inspirational.  It’s dance with a message.  Students have freedom of self-expressions.  Includes a warm-up and stretching exercises, and across the floor technique.

Ballet

A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses.  Intense stretching exercises for increased flexibility.  French terminology.

Jazz

Theatrical and Contemporary style dance seen in many broad way shows such as “Cats.”  Contains elements of both Jazz and Modern.  It is a soulful dance with graceful movement.  Students begin class with intense stretching exercises for increased flexibility.  It includes across the floor combinations and technique. 

Tap

Our Rhythmic tap can be tapped to any genre from classical, to broadway, to hip-hop.  You’ll learn terminology, rhythm, and timing. Take a journey back to the 1920's to the legendary Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, the father of tap.  He was the first person to achieve world fame through the clean and clear percussive rhythms of his feet.  Fast forward 80 years - if Bojangles were alive today, what do you think he might be doing?  Of course… Hip Hop Tap!  Tremendously exciting class!

Break Dance

Acrobatic dance based on high energy moves and various leg movements.  An integral part of hip-hop. Originating from the South Bronx circa 1970, Break dance is characterized by up rock, footwork, spinning moves and freeze.  Learn basic moves such as the James Brown, six step, 3 step, baby freeze, and turtle freeze.  Let's take it back Old School!

WORKSHOPS

 

 

 Often we’d bring in guest choreographers from different cities.  These workshops are more intense than your regular group classes and can last for hours at time.  Workshops allow you to learn main stream choreography at a fast pace.  It increases your learning ability, flexibility, diversity in dance, and performance technique.  Highly recommended for those wanting to make it in the entertainment industry.  Will definitely take your dancing to the next level!

 

What Level are you?

 

Beginner is for students with little or no dance experience.

Intermediate is for students who have mastered the basic steps and have done so with speed and timing.

Advanced is for students who have completed Intermediate level or have instructor’s permission to move on.

What to wear?

NO FLIP FLOPS OR TIGHT JEANS!

 Ballet  - Comfortable fitted top or leotard, with stretch pants or tights of any color, and ballet shoes.  Hair pulled back away from face. Ballet shoes

Hip-hop/Break dance- Comfortable workout tank/t-shirt, sneakers.   Knee pads are optional for break dance.  Sneakers.

Jazz- Leotard of any color, black jazz pants.  Jazz sneaker or jazz shoes.

Get Fit Classes- Dance/workout clothes that you can move comfortably in.  No Jeans!

 

Tap- Comfortable clothes.  Black teletone tap shoes of any style (capezio, oxford, etc.) 

 

Belly dance- No shoes. Comfortable clothes

 

Ballroom or Salsa- Leather or suede sole shoes.  NO SNEAKERS OR RUBBER SOLES!  Comfortable clothes
